Tatiana Vizcaino-Stewart
United Way of Merced County Hub Manager for Building Healthy Communities
Merced, CA
I was born and raised in México City until the age of eighteen, when I moved to California with my family. I have a B.A. Degree in International Relations and a Comparative Literature Minor (English/Spanish) from UC Davis (1993) and a M.A. in English/TESOL (2005). I have worked over 14 years with funded projects by The California Endowment (TCE) at Healthy House, a local community-based organization where I led a nationally recognized program to test and train healthcare interpreters.
Currently, I manage the "Hub" --the central table for the local health initiative--Building Healthy Communities (BHC) in Southwest/East Merced County. I am a primary point of contact for overall site communications with our funder, The California Endowment and I am responsible for connecting people from diverse groups within the community and the BHC state-wide network. BHC is a 10-year; strategic initiative funded by The California Endowment, intended to improve the health of all Californians by transforming the definition health in our communities, build advocacy, change policies and systems by intentional youth and resident engagement.
I am interested in harnessing the power of technology to make the work more effective and to stay well-connected with youth in our Building Healthy Communities state-wide network.
